Femme In Tea

Femme-in-tea started as little collection of private sketches that expressed a personal love of tea. the place tea has in my life is one of consistency, for the good times, and the bad, the sick days and the healthy days. tea is made first thing in the morning and a cup accompanies me to bed every night. boxes, jars and tins occupy pride of place in my kitchen. tea is a deep rooted comfort, a life-long love.

with each new sketch stronger ideas came up. women in tea, femininity in context of the tea tradition and comfort in the natural female body - hair, scars, cold feet. all were kept in mind, as were countless stories where tea was present. lonely days and night, breakups, tired limbs at the end of the day. sore feet, bellies and stomachs.

each woman, each mug, each illustration is a story, already told or waiting to be told.
